GEÓRGIA GIOCONDA AGUILLAR
"Ao criar estas formas, não procurei apenas a estética das linhas curvas, mas que a escolha da madeira fosse o conceito principal da minha obra. Ao empregar esta matéria prima, lido com a possibilidade de transmutar este elemento em chapa de compensado na leveza de uma folha de papel, interferindo assim no seu processo de utilização funcional, a partir do conceito gótico de transformar pedra em pena. Este desafio de obter movimentos crescentes a partir da complexa relação gravitacional PESO-EQUILÍBRIO, torna-se um exercício prazeroso, pois ao tocar a madeira, minhas mãos querem mais."
BIOGRAFIA
Artista autodidata nascida no Rio de Janeiro em 1966, Geórgia Gioconda Aguillar aos 5 anos desenhava e pintava com certa maturidade técnica, experiência adquirida na convivência com o pai, o pintor, escultor e designer de móveis, Gilberto Aguillar.
Nesta época, Aguillar trabalhava no atelier da Escola Nacional de Belas Artes, no Rio de Janeiro, onde grandes mestres da pintura brasileira davam aulas e onde Geórgia Gioconda pintou seus primeiros quadros. Foi ali que pela primeira vez um trabalho seu foi comercializado, atendendo um colecionador à procura de novos talentos.
Aos oito anos, começou a conviver com a pintora abstracionista Myrian Medeiros, casada com seu pai, que dominava a técnica de espátula e tons pastéis. Myrian exerceu grande influência no trabalho de Geórgia, sobretudo na década de 80 e início de 90.
Do pai, herdou a técnica de elaborar tons.
Mas foi com a mãe, Gilda Gouveia, sua maior incentivadora, que Geórgia conseguiu expandir o olhar artístico ao ser apresentada, desde pequena, às diferentes técnicas de artistas como Teruz e Milton Dacosta. Esta convivência com o universo real do artista, acabou sendo mais importante para sua formação do que qualquer escola acadêmica - ela avalia:
"Minha mãe possuía um olhar apuradíssimo - e através dessa exigência me ensinou a superar meus próprios limites técnicos, como me incentivou na busca por uma identidade própria na arte".
Nas décadas de 80/90, Geórgia residiu em Belo Horizonte, MG, onde, mesmo sem se afastar dos pincéis e do cavalete, trabalhou como organizadora de leilões de arte e proprietária da Mercator Galeria de Arte Contemporânea.
No ano 2000, volta a residir no Rio de Janeiro, onde sua arte sofre uma mudança radical ao criar a Série Curvaturas de esculturas neoconcretas em madeira; em 2008, inicia carreira como designer e fotógrafa.
Suas obras participam de leilões de arte para colecionadores e são expostas em conceituadas coleções e galerias no Brasil e exterior.
MUDANÇA DE CONCEITOS
Dois momentos foram decisivos para a mudança de fases e de crescimento desta artista autodidata.
O primeiro aconteceu 1983, quando Geórgia, aos 16 anos, teve a experiência de conviver diariamente com o importante pintor Roberto Magalhães, que formava um grupo ativo com Antonio Dias, Gerchman e Vergara. Eles revolucionaram a Arte brasileira na década de 60.
Roberto, pintor surrealista e estudioso de vários movimentos espirituais e filosóficos, tinha em sua casa, um edifício do século 19, no bairro histórico de Santa Teresa, o habitat perfeito para a jovem artista afinar sua sensibilidade.
O universo intelectual e mágico deste artista alquimista abriram horizontes sensoriais e definitivos para Geórgia Gioconda, que neste momento decidiu seguir o caminho profissional da arte.
Outro momento fundamental foi o contato com a obra de Lygia Clark, através do amigo e neto da artista Victor Clark, que a convidou para fazer a curadoria do acervo que herdou da avó.
Nesse momento, começou outra fase no trabalho de Geórgia, que até então apenas exercia a arte de pintar.
Nesse período teve um contato mais profundo com a obra de Hélio Oiticica, Sérgio Camargo, Tenreiro e outros que lhe serviram de inspiração para as esculturas em madeira tituladas Série Curvaturas, no ano de 2001.
Nestas obras, a artista exerce o conceito de transmutação de elementos através da percepção sensorial da matéria.
Como escultora, Geórgia entra definitivamente para o mercado da arte contemporânea brasileira.

BIOGRAPHY
Self-taught artist born in Rio de Janeiro in 1966, with the age of five Georgia Gioconda Aguilar drew and painted with a certain technical maturity, experience taken when living with her father, the painter, sculptor and furniture designer, Gilberto Aguilar. At this time, Aguilar worked in the workshop of the National School of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro, where the great masters of Brazilian painting has been given classes and where Georgia Gioconda painted her first works. It was there by the first time her work was sold, having a collector looking for new talent.
At eight, she began to live with the abstractionist painter Myriam Medeiros, married to his father, who dominated the palette knife technique and pastels. Myriam exerted great influence on the work of Georgia, especially in the 80s and early 1990. From his father, inherited the technical preparation tones.
But it was with his mother, Gilda Gouveia, her biggest supporter, that Georgia was able to expand her artistic sight when presented, since childhood, to the different techniques of artists like Milton Dacosta and Teruz. This familiarity with the real world of the art was more important to her training than any academic school - she points out."My mother had a sharp vision - and through that requirement she has taught me to overcome my own technical limitations, as I encouraged the search for an identity in art. "
In the decades of 80/90, Georgia resided in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, where, even without straying from the easel and brushes, she worked as an organizer of art auctions and the owner of Mercator Gallery of Contemporary Art.
In 2000 she returned to live in Rio de Janeiro, where her art undergoes a radical change to create a series of neoconcrete curved sculptures in wood, in 2008, began career as a designer and photographer.
Her works of art are part of auctions for collectors and are exhibited in prestigious galleries and collections in Brazil and abroad.
CHANGE OF CONCEPTS
Another key moment was the contact with the work of Lygia Clark, through the artists grandson and friend Victor Clark, who invited her to curate the collection that he inherited from his grandmother.
At this time, began another phase in the work of Georgia, who previously only held the art of painting. In that period she had a deeper contact with the work of Helio Oiticica, Sergio Camargo, Tenreiro and others who inspired her in wood carving titled Buckles Series, in 2001.
In these works the artist has the concept of transmutation of elements through the sensory perception of matter. As a sculptor, Georgia finally enter the market for contemporary Brazilian art.
